Position : Field Service Engineer – Business Telephony Solutions

Overview

Working closely with sales, customer service, marketing, product management and development, you will be a key technical resource to the company, and most importantly, to our customers and partners

Key Responsibilities

You will be the primary contact within the organization for all technical and product related questions on our Business Telephony Solutions. As the face of R&D and the voice of the customer, you will fill a critical role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical possibilities.

As the technical product expert, you will be called on to help investigate and solve the most difficult and complicated issues that get reported by our customers, including on-site troubleshooting as-required

You will also be an important resource to our Sales and Marketing teams, assisting them in addressing and overcoming technical challenges presented by potential customers. From time-to-time, you may be asked to attend sales-calls with an Account Manager and to assist with trade shows. Your in-depth knowledge and expertise in VoIP protocols and Telecom standards will be essential when working with our partners on interoperability verification testing.

Requirements/Personal Characteristics

  • In-depth knowledge of VoIP protocols and telecom standards
  • Able to troubleshoot complex IP-based systems
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, technical and organizational skills
  • Proactive nature, able to identify potential problems and address them without specific directions
  • Work well both individually and within a team
  • Able to travel on short notice
  • Eligible to apply for work-permit status in the United States (this position is based in Vancouver, BC with frequent travel to the USA)

Education

  • An Engineering degree or Technology diploma in software development or electronics is required
  • Industry certifications such as CCNx and CWNx are highly desirable. Some training in these areas is required
  • Formal education in Sales or Marketing disciplines is desirable, but not required

Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a technical or sales related customer-facing role
  • Direct working experience and in-depth knowledge of business telephony systems required
  • Customer Service or Technical Support experience on business telephony solutions is an asset
  • Experience with Networking as well as VoIP, PSTN and T1 connectivity solutions
  • Understanding of Wired and Wireless Telephony solutions
